Since the establishment of the Distance Learning University Switzerland in 1992, the demand for distance study courses has increased. Today over 2,200 men and women from both Switzerland and abroad are enrolled in a Distance Learning course. The range of courses was developed and expanded to meet the needs of the economy and the students – today it includes 24 courses in German and 14 in French.
Distance Learning University Switzerland is funded by various sources:
- Public subsidies (< 40%)
Confederation, cantons, municipalities, region - Academic programs (> 50%)
- IUV contributions (contributions from the cantons in which the students reside)
- study fees
- Third-party funds (< 10%)
various contributions and projects
